This trip to the Northwest highland of Mai Chau offers a balance of cultural and physical activity set amongst some northern Vietnam's stunning natural landscape. We trek for one and a half days through villages in Mai Chau and overnight in a White Thai village where we have opportunities to observe the local lifestyle of these minority people. This Mai Chau trekking tour designed for people who want to enjoy a healthy work out in the nature on foots or by bicycle with our experienced local guide. 01 night in the comfort of Mai Chau Lodge combined with 01 night in the authentic local home-stay, the package are perfect for those who look for a real life experience!
Itinerary
Day 1: Hanoi - Mai Chau - Mai Chau Lodge (L, D)
We depart Hanoi and head west towards Hoa Binh city where we stop for refreshment and visit HoaBinh hydro station was built in the 80 decade. Leaving Hoa Binh we climb to towards the Mai Chau valley, about another two hours away to White Thai village of Lac village. Enjoy the stunning views while having lunch on tasty local dishes cooked by the White Thai girls of the village. Check in the Mai Chau Lodge, afternoon we walk to the surrounding village then drive to Co Luong harbor for delights boat trip on Ma River for visit Ban En village. Trekking through out of village on river bank to the place where boat waiting for, turn back to Lac village. Dinner and overnight in the luxury Mai Chau Lodge.
Day 2: Mai Chau trekking - homestay (B, L, D)
Today we will visit Xa Linh village - 60 km following the Highway 6, the village of Black Hmong people. You will trek 2-3 hours though the mountains to see the daily life of the H'mong people, tilling the fields, logging or herding buffalo. Have lunch cooked by a local White Thai woman in Hang Kia villahe before turn back to Lac village. Our hosts for this evening will be the White Thai minority people. In sampling these peoples hospitality, we find out a little more of their lives and cultures with a cultural exchange talk following the evening meal. Overnight in the homestay with local rice wine to add up the flavour of the day
Day 3: Mai Chau - Hanoi (B, L)
After breakfast we embark on a lovely walk to Van village. We have the opportunity to spend some more time strolling around the hamlets and witnessing the beginnings of another day in rural Vietnam before we return to Hanoi. We enjoy lunch in Mai Chau Lodge before we drive back to Hanoi. Finish at your hotel in Hanoi.
