Tour features: Con Dao served as a prison island for political prisoners during the French colonial era, when it was known as Poulo Condore, and in later years the Saigon regime imprisoned opponents of the regime in the infamous cells known as the "tiger cages". The old prison buildings are still standing and are open to the public as is a small museum tracing the island's history. Besides having an interesting history, Con Dao is also an island of immense natural beauty with forested hills, deserted sandy beaches and extensive coral reefs making for some excellent diving.
Itinerary
Day 1: HCMC – Con Dao island (L, D)
Pick up and transfer to Tan San Nhat airport for boarding flight to Con Dao (9.20 - 10:20am). Car transfer to hotel. Check in and relax. Lunch at the hotel.
Free time for swimming, sunbathing and relaxing in the cool island breezes. In the evening, adjourn to a restaurant to enjoy a sumptuous outdoor dinner served under the stars. Overnight at your chosen resort on Con Dao island.
Day 2: Con Dao island (B, L, D)
After breakfast, take a boat ride to Bay Canh islet, where you can swim and look for sea-turtle eggs on the lovely beaches. Then enjoy a trek through the magical, time-forgotten mangrove forests characteristic of Southern Vietnam, and discover beautiful coral reefs by snorkeling at low tide. You can also take a fantastic two-hour walk to a functioning French-built lighthouse. Return to Con Dao in the late afternoon for dinner and relaxation.
Day 3: Con Dao island (B, L, D)
Go swimming or explore the deserted roads hidden beneath the shady vaults of old trees. Visit the notorious Tiger Cages, the former prison built by French colonialists, and Hang Duong Cemetery. Lunch at your hotel. Leisure time in the afternoon.
Day 4: Con Dao – Ho Chi Minh City (B)
Transfer to airport for boarding flight to HCMC (11am - 12 noon). Drop you back to your hotel in HCMC
