Hoa Lu - Tam Coc, Ancient capital of Vietnam

Tour features: Sightseeing the marvelous scenery of what so-called 'dry Halong bay', cycling through green fields of the countryside, boat sailing on stream.

Hoa Lu was the capital city of Vietnam under the Dinh Dynasty between 968 and 980 AD and ancient sanctuaries and tombs can still be seen today. Apart from the historical importance, the area is naturally beautiful, referred to many as the 'Halong Bay on land', with limestone peaks and fertile green valleys.

The tour includes being rowed along the Boi River, which makes for a truly unforgettable experience, passing between towering limestone peaks. We leave Hanoi and head south for a 2-hour drive. We spend one hour visiting the Dinh and Le sanctuaries and then move on to Tam Coc for a boat trip along the Boi River. Along the way we visit caves and ancient temples.

Itinerary:

AM: 8h00 Pick up at your hotel, then depart for Ninh Binh province. Arrive in Ninh Binh around 2 hours bus trip. Stop at the first place named Hoa Lu, the ancient citadel of Vietnam in 10th century, to visit temples of two Kings: Dinh and Le, walking up and down in the beautiful Truong Yen Valley to enjoy the marvellous sceneries. Proceed the tour by cycling from Hoa Lu to Tam Coc around 12 km along country lane with green field landscapes. Arrive Tam Coc after 1 hour, stop in a restaurant for lunch.

PM: Get on the sampan boat in Tam Coc pier. On the way, you can enjoy over all picture of limestone mountains and quiet streams. Passing through 3 caves (hang Ca, hang Hai, hang Ba). Boat back to the same pier at 15:00 for bus transferring back to Hanoi, arrive Hanoi at 18:00. Drop you off at your hotel.
